Wedding photography in St. Gallen
St. Gallen is the outermost point of our area, and we name it anyway, because the drive is worth it for the abbey precinct. The cathedral and the abbey library are on the World Heritage list, and the square in front of them has a calm you would not expect in a city this size. Photography there happens outside – the library is a book repository, not a place for a wedding dress, and we respect that.
The old town lives on its oriels: over a hundred painted and carved bays on the houses, giving the narrow lanes depth. Under an overcast sky that is ideal; in full sun it goes blotchy – here, for once, a grey day is the better news. For couples from Germany the same applies as for Bregenz: a different currency, customs formalities for equipment, separate invoicing. We have that sorted, but it belongs in the conversation beforehand and not on the wedding morning.
Our photo spots
- Stiftsbezirk – Cathedral and abbey courtyard, World Heritage. Exterior shots; strict rules apply inside.
- Altstadt mit den Erkern – Over a hundred painted bays. Best under an overcast sky, hard sun makes them blotchy.
- Drei Weieren über der Stadt – A pond and a view over St. Gallen, twenty minutes from the centre. Busy at weekends.
Frequent questions
Can you photograph in the abbey library?
No, and you should not want to. It is a library room with centuries-old holdings and a climate to match. We photograph in the abbey courtyard and on the square in front – that gives you the architecture just as well.
Do you invoice in euros or francs?
In euros, with a fixed amount in the quote – no exchange rate that moves before the wedding. Travel and accommodation stand separately next to it, so you can see what you are paying for.
