Memmingen has something nobody cares about in summer and that saves everything in November: arcades. At the Steuerhaus and around the market square you can stand dry and still be outside. We have photographed weddings here where it rained without stopping, and the pictures do not look like a fallback. For a date in late autumn or early spring that is a real argument.
The second reason is how complete it feels. The market square with the town hall and the Steuerhaus, the Siebendächerhaus on the corner by the town stream, the lanes in between – it is all within walking distance, and from every angle it looks like a set someone built. Anyone driving on from Memmingen into the Allgäu also has meadows and mountains behind them after twenty minutes, if the couple is drawn to the landscape.

In Memmingen you have the best plan B in the area. We go under the arcades on the market square and work with the archways and the wet cobbles – rain then becomes part of the pictures instead of their enemy.
Do you drive on from Memmingen into the Allgäu?
Gladly. For couples who want mountains in frame we plan a window of about two hours – the drive there and back included. It is only worth it in good weather, and we decide it together on the morning of the wedding day.
