Günzburg is our neighbourhood. We are there in barely half an hour, and we know the town not from a scouting visit but from weddings in every season. You notice it in small things: that the market square rises towards the palace, which is why group pictures look better from below than from above. That the Frauenkirche by Dominikus Zimmermann has a light inside you can work with without flash, if you know where to stand.
The old centre is compact enough that the ceremony, the drinks reception and the couple shoot work without moving the whole party. That is worth more than it sounds: every drive between two places costs forty minutes of mood. Couples marrying in the afternoon have soft light from the palace square into the early evening; after that it gets dark quickly in the lanes, and we move to the Günz or towards the town park.
Our photo spots
- Marktplatz und Schlossplatz – The climb up to the palace gives depth. In the morning the west side is in shadow – then use the row of houses opposite instead.
- Frauenkirche – A bright rococo interior that needs no extra light. Photography only by arrangement with the parish.
- Günzufer und Auwald – Green and quiet, a five-minute walk from the old centre. The last hour before sunset belongs here.

Do you also come for a small ceremony without a celebration?
Yes. For Günzburg there is a short two-hour coverage for that – the ceremony, the congratulations, a walk through the old centre. We do not charge for travel within the Günzburg district.
Is Legoland worth using as a backdrop?
For wedding pictures, not really – it is a theme park with its own rules and a lot of people in the frame. If family with children has travelled in, we would rather plan it as its own event the following day.
