Wedding photography in Augsburg

Augsburg is the most imposing town in our area. Maximilianstraße is as wide as a square, the town hall with its Golden Hall is not a backdrop but a building that carries weight in a picture, and the Fuggerei is a street of its own – the oldest social housing complex still in use anywhere, with brick façades and quiet in the middle of the city. Anyone who wants pictures that look like an occasion will find more of them here than anywhere else between Ulm and Munich.

That size has a downside: Augsburg needs time. Between the Perlach tower, the Fuggerei and the water channels of the Lechviertel there are distances you do not cover in twenty minutes, and the centre is built on wide streets, not short ones. So for Augsburg we plan a larger window, or settle on two places in advance rather than half-seeing four. For the channels: narrow canals, historic fountains, and considerably fewer people in the morning than in the afternoon.

Our photo spots

• Fuggerei – Brick, greenery, hardly any through traffic. Entry and photography only with prior registration – we take care of that.
• Rathausplatz und Perlachturm – A large area for large parties. Harsh at midday – then move into the arcades of Maximilianstraße.
• Lechviertel und Wasserläufe – Narrow canals and old craftsmen's houses, quieter than the centre. Emptiest in the morning.
